Anderson House is a provincial shelter and serves women and children from all across Prince Edward Island. More than just a safe place, Anderson House provides a temporary home with beds, food, clothing and toiletries (some arrive with only the clothes on their back). In addition to meeting basic needs, we support women in a number of ways such as creating a safety plan, supporting them through talking to police or accessing stay away orders, accompanying them to appointments, and advocating on their behalf. We guide them to appropriate resources such as lawyers, housing child care, transportation, and pet care, to name a few. Perhaps most importantly, we take time to listen and acknowledge their pain, and give hope for their future.
Over the past year Anderson House sheltered 72 women and 43 children.
“To the ladies of the house, Thank you big time! You cheer, motivate, inspire and comfort.”, Anderson House Resident 2016
