May 14, 2024, Charlottetown, PE – “The Leroy” burger creation by Dreadnaught Eatery in Morell wins title of “Most Loved Burger” by public voting for PEI Burger Love 2025, with the overall campaign raising $113,474 for Anderson House.
PEI Burger Love is owned and marketed by Fresh Media, and is run in partnership with Anderson House as an exclusive fundraiser for the organization.
For the campaign, each participating restaurant commits to donating $1 from each burger sold to Anderson House. This year, a whopping 113,474 burgers were sold; an increase of 25% from last year. This equates to $113,474 being donated to Anderson House which is the most money raised in a single campaign to date.
With these funds, Anderson House will be able to continue and expand its many community supports, including emergency shelter and outreach and support services for Islanders and children who are in need of safety because of violence in their lives.
“I appreciate the hard work and dedication of everyone who played a part in this year’s campaign. It’s a lot of work, but everyone’s support and the campaign’s huge success is so heartwarming. We rely on community support, and we are excited about what this will enable us to do,” says Danya O’Malley, executive director of Anderson House.
Out of 88 burgers created by 91 restaurant locations, The Dreadnaught Eatery proved victorious as the “Most Loved Burger”. The Dreadnaught Eatery, located in Morell, sold close to 2,000 burgers during the 30 day event, and owners, Derek and Natasha Perry, have generously offered to continue donating $1 from every Leroy burger sold for the rest of the year. They genuinely understand the importance of community support as well, and are grateful for everyone who took the time to try their burger and cast their votes.
“The Leroy” features a 5 oz Island Beef Smash Patty, Sliced Havarti Cheese, Blueberry Red Wine Reduction, Crumbled Feta Aioli, Micro Greens, Buttermilk-Fried Onion Strings all served on a Brioche Potato Bun.
This year, PEI Burger Love also partnered with Atlantic Beef Products and Cattle Producers of PEI to have the campaign only feature all-beef burger entries once again.
