Services
Assessment (determined by depth required; typical range $1500-$4000)
The goal of assessment is to answer questions concerning aspects of your intellectual, academic, social and/or emotional functioning. Assessment services are provided to individuals 18+ and include identification of mental health diagnosis (e.g., depression, anxiety, ADHD, personality disorders), and treatment or accommodation recommendations. Assessment is not currently provided for learning disability or Autism.
Assessment typically includes:
1. Initial intake (may include completing a history questionnaire before this meeting).
2. Psychological testing, which often takes more than one appointment.
3. Review and integration of existing educational or medical records.
4. Feedback meeting to discuss the results.
5. Receiving a psychological assessment report, which may also be forwarded to the individual or agency that referred you for the assessment.
Assessment provides the opportunity to identify unique strengths and challenges, which in turn can enhance your strengths and help you to overcome challenges. For example, this information might allow you to qualify for accommodations in your educational or work environment.
Psychotherapy ($210/session)
There are various approaches to treatment to address mental health concerns. The specific therapeutic approach used depends on factors related to the clinician, you as the client, and the particular problems you hope to address. Issues treated in psychotherapy include (but are not limited to) depression, anxiety, ADHD, post-traumatic stress and trauma, personality disorders, substance use, and sleep disorders. Situational and relational issues can also be addressed through therapy, including self-esteem, family conflict, workplace difficulties, and grief/loss. Psychotherapy calls for active effort on your part. To achieve the most benefit, you must work on the things that you and your clinician talk about both during your sessions and at home. Clients seen for psychotherapy usually follow this process:
1. Initial intake and development of a recommended treatment plan, including estimated length of treatment. If your goals are met in fewer sessions, therapy may end sooner.
2. Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length and may be weekly, biweekly, or less frequently depending on your needs and treatment goals. You may be asked to complete brief questionnaires to monitor progress.
3. Some clients may schedule ongoing or maintenance sessions following the completion of therapy, depending on client preference and therapist availability.
Psychotherapy is intended to help you find solutions to specific concerns, develop increased self-knowledge, change emotions, change behavior, and improve relationships. Evidence-based treatment approaches offered at The Nest include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Consultation
Provided to individuals, other clinicians and organizations, consultation services are defined by the American Psychological Association as “applying and extending the specialized knowledge of a psychologist through the process of consultation to problems involving human behavior in various areas.” This can be applied to individuals, families, and organizations.
Individual Consultation ($210/hr) includes a review of history and symptoms, and results in a recommendation for assessment, treatment, or services in the community. Consultation offers insight and is useful for planning but is not as comprehensive as an assessment and will not result in a diagnosis. This is a good first-step for those uncertain about which path to pursue.
Organizational Consultation ($900-$1200 per diem) seeks to strengthen a program or service through the application of a psychological lens to organizational challenges or goals. This type of consultation can include activities such as needs assessment, jurisdictional or literature review, evaluation, or proposal-writing.
