Charlottetown, PE, May 18, 2010 – Royal LePage Peters & Lank Realty raised over $1600 this past Saturday, May 15th at the 2nd annual National Garage Sale for Shelter to support Anderson House and regional violence prevention programs . This Royal LePage Shelter Foundation event is dedicated to ending violence against women and children in communities across Canada.
“We are all doing our part to end domestic violence against women in Prince Edward Island and providing financial support as well as other essential goods and services to our local shelter,” says Ken Peters. “Through the National Garage Sale for Shelter, we are making a difference in our community.”
This year over 120 offices Royal LePage offices across Canada took part in the national event and together raised a record breaking $300,000 to end violence against women and children in communities across Canada. In 2009 the National Garage Sale for Shelter raised $120,000.
With the generous support of our local communities, TD Canada Trust (National Presenting sponsor), Atlas Van Lines Canada (In-kind Moving and Transportation sponsor) and Advance Commission Company of Canada (Major Event sponsor), this event broke last year’s record and raised more money and awareness than ever before!

Together, local residents and Royal LePage Peters & Lank Realty donated household items to raise funds and awareness of to end family violence. “The funds raised from the garage sale will make such a difference to women and children,” says Ellen Ridgeway. “This not only provides our organization with much-needed financial support, but it brings our community together.”
