Charlottetown, PEI -- The PEI Family Violence Prevention Services
inc., (PEIFVPS Inc) organization is pleased to announce that Philip Matusiewicz, BA, MSW, RSW, has been hired as Executive Director of the organization for the next three years.
Patricia Roy, chair of the organization, says Mr. Matusiewicz was
the unanimous choice of the Board of Directors acting upon the
recommendation of a hiring committee which had been struck by the Board of Directors and which received assistance from HRA Associates in the selection process. An Employment contract between the organization and Mr Matusiewicz was signed recently in Charlottetown.
Ms. Roy, on behalf of the Board of Directors, stated that the
organization was pleased that Mr. Matusiewicz, who had been the acting Executive Director since 2006, has accepted the position and looks forward to working with him in continuing to provide valuable residential and outreach services to those affected by family violence within the province.
"The right person in the position of Executive Director is
one of the crucial elements of a successful organization and we have that person," she said.

PEI Family Violence Prevention Services Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1980. Our primary goals are to provide a place of safety for women and children who are victims of abuse, educate the public about the issues of violence against women and family violence, and advocate for the needs of abused women and children. We believe that it is a basic human right to be free of abuse and from fear of abuse in relationships.The organization is led by a volunteer Board of Directors who represent a broad range of skills, expertise and commitment to the issues.
